The sand dunes is one of the greatest tourist and nature attraction in the southern part of Gran Canaria. They rose from the sands, shells and corals accumulated by the sea, and occupy an area of about 418 hectares. On its western side you find the interesting water reservoir Charco de Maspalomas — a must for bird watchers?
The dunes are very fascinating as they may move up to a meter a day. The winds seem sporadic, but may be quite annoying when they suddenly hit you. But the weather is generally so good that you would not mind a little local storm on this beach.
Dunas de Maspalomas is very close to the resort of Playa del Ingles. These tourist traps may not be very interesting culturally, but for a week or two if you let the nature rule your mind you might have a very nice time.

  1. Wonderful pictures! I love Maspalomas and the dunes. I spend my holydays every year in Playa del Inglés, and I've been ther for 14 times.
